JOHN & DEIRDRE WILLIAMS
We met over 50 years ago in our church youth group in North West Kent, while we were at college. There was a short hitch when John graduated in chemistry & moved away to work, while Deirdre qualified as a teacher of domestic subjects & worked locally. After we were married there was a period teaching in India before John settled into a local research job and Deirdre turned her talents to raising our three children. In 1972 the job moved and brought us to Wokingham where we became involved in the life and work of the Baptist church. John’s research department on the university campus closed in 1989 and he started working for himself, which lasted until retirement, by which time our children had flown the nest, and we had moved to Rose Street Methodist Church. Our time is still very full, keeping up with the family (now grown to 11), church & charity work, theatre, music (listening, not performing!), sewing and of course books.
