GILL MANNING
Born in Birmingham, the youngest (and still definitely the shortest!!), of 3 children.
I grew up as a member of Acocks Green Methodist Church, the church where my Mum and Dad met and were married. Subsequently in 1987, Paul and I were also married there, so it still remains a very special place for me.
I moved to the Wokingham area in 1986 to be with Paul, who had recently moved South to work for Mars Electronics. I started working for Hewlett Packard in the then office in Miller House, Bracknell.
Paul and I have been married for 23 years and have two wonderful children James and Emily, who are familiar faces at Rose Street especially behind tea and coffee pots.
I "found" Rose Street church while on my first shopping trip to Wokingham back in '86 and I attended my first service the following Sunday. I felt right at home and Robert McBain and many other members of the church made me feel so welcome that I have been coming ever since.
As a newcomer to the area, the welcome I received made a real difference to me and I hope, as a steward, I can make others feel the same way when they come through the doors at Rose Street.
I recently left Hewlett Packard after 23 years working in Finance and am thoroughly enjoying catching up on all those jobs I neglected for all those years and also having a bit more patience with James and Emily!
