Monthly Review
Firstly, thank you to everyone who came along on the evening of 18th July, to join us for our anniversary service. We did appreciate your support and we were also grateful to our choir for their part in this happy evening. Nick lead us in our theme of “difficult journeys”, which I guess all of us were well able to relate to, and it was good that some of our club members who do not regularly attend church were also able to be with us.
Our July meeting encountered a few difficulties, when our speaker from the “Railway Magazine” let us down at very short notice. However, we are fortunate in having many friends locally who are able to help out, and we were pleased that our club member John Milner was able to stand in with some more of his family travel films, which were much enjoyed. We were also plagued with technical gremlins on this evening and we were grateful to Ian Severn (for us technophobes it is always useful to know a man who can!) for helping to sort us out, and our versatile catering team who managed to rustle up tea and cakes three quarters of an hour earlier than they were expecting!
Following on from the foregoing, this has necessitated a change to our advertised programme, so, on Tuesday 21 September our speaker will be John Soer, who will talk to us about railway memorabilia. We do hope you will come along and enjoy the evening with us, when everything will, we hope, run like clockwork!
