Scott Harris - Youth Worker

Hi, I am Scott Harris, the new youth worker for Wokingham Methodist Church. This is a new role within the church and I am keen on providing support with existing youth projects such as the Yc@fé on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The volunteers have done such a great job with the two sessions. But with their help I aim to develop a third afternoon for young people to come down.

It is important that we cover topical issues within the social environment that young people live in. I aim to get them involved in their own projects where I can support and guide them, challenging them on issues that are often raised in daily life.

As well as working with the Yc@fé, I also aim to create a Sunday Service Youth Group. There are many young people who attend Sunday Services but rarely connect with each other. I think it is important to socialise with peers and make friends, so I wish to create a group where young people from the Church can come to chat and meet new mates. I hope that we can eventually work on projects and ideas of what they want from their community.

My ultimate role is to support every individual young person. Whether it is giving them the opportunity to socialise with their peers or being able to talk to someone outside of their day to day lives. I am here for the young people of Wokingham Methodist Church to give support and information when needed and supply the means for them to build and create their own projects.
